About: We find this unusual lichen, also known as “Old Man’s Beard” hanging in long tendrils of grayish-green on the branches of tall evergreens that stand on the rocky outcroppings in the mountains. This is just one place where Usnea grows. It's said that where Usnea lichen grows, the air is especially clean and clear. I had pieces float on the wind into my hands in the forests of the Andes Mountains in Ecuador. So beautiful.
