ElderMoon School of Herbs & Earth Medicine - Health Disclaimer
Ah yes, here it is. The blanket disclaimer required and respectfully provided by many within the herbal world per our FDA. Thank you for understanding this. So being here means you have most likely experienced some positive effects on your health with turning to herbal remedies for healing. It's my goal at ElderMoon School (EMS of Herbs) to increase your tools for cultivating vibrant health. Due to the nature of our times both legal and otherwise, I'm not providing you with personal health advice. I stand firmly in being safe as you explore the taking of herbal remedies that you decide to take into your body.
Website visitors and class participants are able to engage in health-related discussions in the school’s public and private forums through classes, blog articles, and social media groups in order to share their own insights and experiences related to taking plant remedies for various health related conditions. Please be aware that the comments of students and others through EMS of Herbs are personal and do not necessarily represent the philosophies or suggestions of practice at EMS of Herbs .
No forum post or website comment should be considered health advice. Each of us is responsible for consulting a medical professional before trying any new medicinal herb or remedy mentioned in the EMS of Herbs website or any related public or private forum.
All content on this EMS of Herbs website and in the online or in-person courses are for educational purposes only. My goal is to provide useful and accurate traditional information passed through the ages from our ancestors. You are responsible for doing more research and verifying information before relying on it. I am a trained herbalist and a registered healthcare professional. However, as a nurse I cannot diagnose health conditions, nor prescribe medicines legally; I am not a medical doctor. I do hold the legal ability to recommend or suggest medicinal herbs for various health complaints as nutritional supplements that are health supportive. I believe in the safety and efficacy of botanical medicine. As a nurse I can legally do so, as long as your doctor is involved in the exchange. And I encourage this so that we can keep physicians up to date with what their patients want. Should you be challenged with their reactions, and you are not alone if this happens, I'm available to discuss alternative actions that are safe for you.
Any information provided by myself or EMS of Herbs is not intended to be a substitute for medical treatment. Please consult your medical care provider before using herbal medicine, particularly if you have a known medical condition or if you are pregnant or nursing or treating a child. Finding a sensitive and knowledgeable clinician is hard, yes, but a necessary task in order to integrate modern medicine with traditional herbal medicine.
You are responsible for your own health. This is true no matter what school of medicine you choose to turn to for your personal healthcare. As with any school of medicine, the herbal medicine world is extensive and complex, and must be approached responsibly for these medicines work when taken correctly. People react differently to different remedies. Neither myself nor EMS of Herbs is responsible for how your body reacts. Some herbs are contraindicated with certain modern medicine prescription drugs. And this too is still being figured out as we learn to integrate the two schools.
Keep in mind too that some helpful herbs may be confused with harmful or even poisonous, deadly plants. Know your plants before taking them. Be 100% sure of your identification before you harvest any plant or mushroom. Keep in mind that anything new to your body can cause an unusual reaction, ranging from nausea to a full-blown allergic reaction. In the end, it's your responsibility to make sure you are harvesting the correct plant or mushroom and it's your choice to try anything new to you. EMS of Herbs or myself cannot be responsible for incorrect identification or reactions to plants or mushrooms. For severe reactions, do go to any Emergency Room and Poison Control is contacted from there and is beautifully well-schooled in guiding the doctors on how to safely guide us through any trouble we may have with adversely reacting to ingesting a plant. I‘ve assisted with many such situations in the hospital and I'm so grateful for this bridge with the plant world.
Should a student be not of legal age to consume alcohol, EMS of Herbs recommends that you refrain from the purchase, consumption, or use of alcohol in your studies. There are many alcohol free ways to work with herbal medicine successfully. It all actually began before alcohol even existed. If you decide to disregard this recommendation, you do so at your own risk, and EMS of Herbs or myself accepts no liability relating to or arising from the activities through your study time with EMS of Herbs.
Thank you for your understanding and tolerance as to the nature and necessity of this writing so we can sit at the table together with clarity towards our common goals.
