Birthing an Herbalist in 13 Moons
An Interactive On-Line Plant Medicine Apprentice Journey
Did you know it takes 13 moons to birth an herbalist? Yes, it takes the passing of 13 Moons which then brings one to the beginning or your first breath. So we begin right where you are and travel the medicine wheel of life as we cultivate and birth your inner healer into herbalist form. It looks different for each of us because it's supposed to. We are each different yet gestated in the same waters of creation and so are birthed with a unique way about us. The same is true when you birth your herbalist-self and it's such a path of beauty that also takes time and commitment. This course is an experiential journey into your outer and inner terrain with new eyes, new ears, and new tools as we cultivate a new understanding of who you are and how you relate to the plants and landscapes around you.
We spend an equal amount of time in modern science as we do in the ancient teachings of the Celtic, Druid, Native American, and South American healing traditions.

What does this mean?
We'll study your nervous system anatomy and journey to the keeper of your nervous system. We'll learn when to plant seeds by the phases of the moon for better germination and be a seed as we craft medicine bundles to support our growth. We'll listen to lungs sounds and feel pulses and assess skin and eyes and tongues and imagine traveling to your own windy caves that dwell in your chest while taking journeys to such places. We'll study your lymphatic and cardiovascular system and follow these waterways in your body much the same as when I encourage you to take field trips to mountain streams and lakes to swim in the water of Earth's vascular and lymphatic system. We'll peer deep into flowers and along stems, leaves, barks and roots, and catch seeds on their releasing day if our timing is impeccable, and sit with an ancient tree and share thanks to the incredible network system deep within Earth's body. We'll learn how to approach a person when they are feeling ill and vulnerable, vicious, or sad and afraid, and how to enter a plant's space with permission and reverence too. We'll explore how to move into modern medicine with yourself intact and your herbalist knowledge honed enough to know when to use what and how. The hospital is just another forest to me and it took a while to get oriented to the concept and place. Being aware of where you are and when to give, take, ask, and receive flows through all we do, yes. This is a taste of how we'll travel together for 13 Moons.

This course is quite huge in content and we spend the majority of the time on the study of the plants, the body and the how-to for practice on the physical level. There is a weaving of ancient ways into our journey together where herbalism is a spiritual practice too and something that all our ancestors once did through a deep connection to Nature. Staying connected to Nature is my way and it moves to all levels of being. It is our common ground.
